Hello, and welcome back to our blog here at Camilo Riano Orthodontics. This is part two of our blog series about maintaining braces while you’re on vacation. Although it’s not difficult to take care of your braces while taking a trip, you still need to make sure you’re prepared and don’t take any chances. Keep reading or contact Camilo Riano Orthodontics, your top rated orthodontist and Invisalign provider in San Francisco and the surrounding area.

Be careful

It never hurts to be too careful when you’re on vacation. Your son may enjoy roughhousing a bit and letting out some energy while on vacation, but you should set a limit and know when it could be putting their oral health in danger. Although the brackets and wires on your braces are strong, a good blow can knock them out of place, break them, and injure people in the process. It would be a shame to make it to your destination only to break a wire and have to drive back for an appointment.

Pack healthy foods

Just because it’s more difficult to eat with braces doesn’t mean you should pack a bunch of sugary drinks. Make sure you take the time each day you’re on vacation to pack some healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables, even if you need to cut them up into tiny pieces. This also makes brushing a little easier, knowing that you won’t have to brush or floss all of that sugar out of your teeth.

Don’t forget your aligners!

If you have Invisalign, it’s imperative that you maintain your schedule and only remove your aligners when you’re eating. Invisalign Teen aligners come with usage indicators, so your orthodontist will know if you haven’t been wearing them.
